We are the Marienga family. My name is Fred Marienga, and I am married to Helen Kinyua and we have been blessed with two children. Our eldest daughter Wema Taipei just turned four and our youngest son Fred Jr. is a year and eight months. We are saved by the blood of Jesus and we love the Lord.
We as a couple we come from very different communities/tribes in Kenya. Myself Fred I come from a minority tribe of Suba in Migori County which has now been assimilated by the dominant Luo community in Migori County. Whereas Helen comes from a dominant tribe of Kikuyu from Nakuru county. We met in college, dated and after finishing our college studies we got married and decided to live in Kericho County where we are living up to date. Currently we run a home storage business and also volunteer within our current community. Just like any other ordinary couples, for the past eight years of our marriage we've had our own challenges due to our different backgrounds, cultures and pressures of daily life, to having kids, among other challenges that couples go through in a day to day life. But God has been very faithful to us that even through these challenges He has held us together without separation as a couple.
It is through these challenges that we decided to find for a mentor or mentors, and through Gods divine intervention he connected us to James and Tanya. Actually, as a couple the coming of James and Tanya in our lives was supernatural. Through their mentorship, prayer, dedication of their time to us and immense love to us as couple and our children, we have been able to realize our calling and purpose with more clarity to the glory of God.
Initially we had started the mentoring of girls from underprivileged background and supporting them in their school education. We thank God that our first two girls in this program, Elizabeth and Lilian are in their final year of high school. They will be sitting for their final exam from next year march. It is through this and by the grace of God after prayers and learning to listen from God, an area we been taught by our mentors. God has put in heart the need of reaching out to the young kids through a care center and primary school for the children from underprivileged background. By grace of God we also want continue to reach out to more girls and even boys who have passed their exams with good grades but can't afford school fees due to their background challenges like orphans and some due alarming poverty levels in their families, whereby even affording two meals a day is hard.
Through our vision of giving hope to the hopeless, God has given us the burden to help the needy from their spiritual needs through the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, basic needs and empowerment of children, youths, women and men to live a holistic life through their God given abilities to the glory of Christ Jesus.
Our mentors, James and Tanya have made an immense contribution first by helping us as couple in the area of our marriage and understand our calling in a more clearer way as a couple and as a family through prayer and knowing how listen to God. The experience has been awesome and when we write about us our story it is incomplete without mentioning James and Tanya to the glory of God.
Our first two girls, Elizabeth and Lilian are currently in their forth class in secondary school. They will be doing their final exams next year from March, and we are excited at the transformation in their lives to the glory of God. Through Wheelers of Hope we are ready to serve by the grace God. Thanks.
